NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR IN 2012

There is a lot of new and up-and-coming technology that will most likely be going mainstream in 2012.  Here are a few of the items you can be on the look-out for...

Mobile Payments
You are probably wondering what mobile payments are.  Think of it as putting all of your credit and debit card information onto a secured file in your cell phone, and therefore turning your phone into your wallet.  When you want to pay for items at the store, you simple pull out your phone, open your "wallet" and process your transaction.  To get more information on this new technology, you can check out Google Wallet (which is currently available on some mobile phones).

Touchscreen Computers
Although this is not a new technology, touchscreen computing is becoming more commonplace.  It's not just for Toughbooks and tablets anymore.  Windows 8 and Mac OS X Lion are both coming with the software required to utilize touchscreen devices.  As this happens, touchscreen desktop and laptop units are going to become the norm.

TV On The Go
Television apps are becoming more and more available.  Currently, apps are available for things such as Netflix, Hulu, and specific television channels (such as TBS, ABC, etc).  However, cable companies are starting to make apps that allow you to sign in to your account and watch all of the channels that you currently have available within your home from anywhere on your tablet device.  Currently, Dish Network, Time Warner and Comcast allow you to access your cable services outside of your home.

Flexible Screens
Although there is nothing definitive yet, Samsung and Nokia have both released information that has led technical gurus to believe that a flexible screen on mobile devices is going to be released in 2012.  Although not quite as small as sophisticated as what you might have seen in the movies, this device would allow you to scroll and zoom by simply bending and flexing the device in a certain way.
